24 July 2013 | Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The year 2013 marks the 65th anniversary of the Israel Air Force. In recognition, on July 24 two remarkable Martin-Young paintings, both reflecting the nascent aerial branch of the Israel Defense Forces, first began publicly displaying inside the University of Florida Hillel (Norman H. Lipoff Hall).
The artwork is currently on loan, but is is hoped that donors will be secured to make the complementary duo permanent fixtures at the Hillel. Notably, the facility also houses the Museum of American and Canadian Volunteers In Israel’s War of Independence.
On hand to receive the loans were Dr. Ralph Lowenstein, a veteran of Israel’s 1948 War of Independence and Dean Emeritus of the College of Journalism and Communications. Keith Dvorchik, CEO & Executive Director of the University of Florida Hillel and Campus Rabbi Gail Swedroe were also present. John Stemple and J.R. Hafer of 20th Century Aviation Magazine delivered the productions.
